Pitting affects braking consistency and may be too deep to clean off. Test by braking — if rotor face smooths out, fine. If still rough, replace. EDGE RUST: rotor edges always rust — normal and not a functional concern unless rotors are very close to minimum thickness. KEY: visible rust ≠ problem. Actual pitting or grooves from prolonged neglect = problem.
