BMW 730d Injector Return Pipe Leak — Fuel Smell
The plastic injector return pipes on M57N/N2 engines become brittle with age and crack or split at the unions. This causes a strong diesel smell in the engine bay and cabin, particularly after a run. There is a fire risk if fuel contacts hot components. The pipes are inexpensive but require patience to access and replace.
