Renault Clio EDC dual clutch judder — cold start fault
The Renault EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) 6-speed gearbox shudders and judders on pull-away when cold. The EDC uses a wet dual clutch design but is still prone to shudder at low speeds, particularly in temperatures below 10°C. A TCU software update from Renault dealers partially resolves the issue. If the shudder is severe, the clutch pack may require replacement. The EDC clutch fluid must be changed every 40,000 km.
