Engine management light with white smoke on cold start on the Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue diesel. The EGR cooler bypass valve sticks in the open position, routing hot exhaust gases directly to the intake without cooling. This causes increased combustion temperatures and can damage intake components. Replacement of the bypass valve and a thorough EGR system clean resolves the fault. Use Ford-specification 5W-30 C1 oil and change every 30,000 km on heavy commercial use.
