The Porsche 912 was produced from 1965 to 1969 as an affordable alternative to the 911. Using the 911 bodyshell with the 1582cc flat-four engine from the outgoing 356 SC, the 912 offered Porsche quality and handling at a lower price. The 912 is lighter than the 911 at the rear, giving it arguably better balanced handling. For many years the 912 was overlooked in favour of the 911 but values have risen strongly as appreciation for the model has grown.
