VW Beetle floor pan rust — structural failure
The Beetle floor pan corrodes from water ingress through sunroof seals, fresh air vents, and door seals, pooling in the low centre.
Soft or holed floor when pressed under carpets. MOT structural failure. Rust visible when jacked up.
Water ingress through seals. Inadequate underbody protection from factory. Age.
Remove interior carpets completely. Inspect entire floor pan and sill sections with a screwdriver for soft spots.
Cut out all rusted metal and weld in new steel. Apply rust converter then weld-through primer. Cavity wax all enclosed sections.
